Actual’s president Todd is a media entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in business publishing and communications.
Todd launched his first magazine title in 1989, back when computers were the sizes of rooms and dinosaurs roamed the plains. He has fond memories of film and printer proofs and fax machines. He served on the board of directors for the Canadian Business Press for ten years—one year as chairman. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Ontario Public Works Association and IMGroup Inc—a contract publishing company affiliated with Actual Media. He is a senior associate with the Canadian Urban Institute and a founder of the Canadian Brownfields Network. He sometimes finds time to guest lecture for the magazine programs at Ryerson University and Centennial College. You can find Todd at his LinkedIn profile or his blog on ReNew Canada.

Lee wears a couple of hats as the associate publisher of Water Canada magazine and the sales manager for Actual Media’s growing graphic design and marketing business. Though, oddly enough, Lee is rarely seen wearing hats in public. It’s usually only when he’s doing the outdoorsman thing: fishing and hunting and the like.
Lee has ten years experience in the environment industry and five years in sales management. His formal education includes a degree in Applied Geography from Ryerson University.

Mira’s nicknames are self-enforced and include Bosley, Boss-ly and Otter. Since becoming editor of ReNew Canada in May 2007, Mira has learned more about infrastructure than you (unless you are one of a few people) and has written articles on a wide variety of topics including financing, green building, governance and foreign investing. She represents the magazine as a member of several industry organizations and associations, including the Toronto chapter of the CaGBC and the OPWA. Mira has a blog and likes to complain.
Mira has a B.A. in Creative Writing from Concordia University and a certificate in Book and Magazine publishing from Centennial College.

Kerry’s love of language began when, as a small child, she realized that there were only five unique letters in her name. She is the editor of Water Canada magazine and Actual Media’s go-to copy developer on special projects. To further ensure that she’s always tied down, we made her the associate editor of ReNew Canada, writing about bridge collapses and building retrofits and that sort of thing. She’s trapped here for life. You can read her Twitter and blog at those respective links.
Kerry has a B.A. in English and Cultural Management from the University of Waterloo, plus a certificate in Book and Magazine Publishing from Centennial College.

No one has found a way to shorten Miles’ name, but many unique pronunciations have been developed over long meetings at Actual Media. Miles has moved around Actual Media since joining the team in March 2007. He started as an editorial intern working with Mira, eventually slid into sales, and now is associate publisher of ReNew Canada and head of special projects. His day-to-day responsibilities include managing Actual Media’s web properties, liaising with clients to handle advertising and marketing partnerships, and brewing a pot of coffee. He’s also the publisher of MONDOmagazine.net, an online-only arts, culture and humour magazine.
Miles is a graduate of York University’s Cultural Studies program and has a certificate in Book and Magazine Publishing from Centennial College.

Starting as an intern with Magazines Canada in 2006, Sharlene has worked in administration and editorial for a variety of magazines. We now force her to sit at a desk as circulation manager for Renew Canada and Water Canada magazines, though she claims it’s of her own free will. In the world of the database, she is queen: all numbers, addresses, postal codes and renewals kneel before her.
Sharlene has a B.A. in English from Saint Mary’s University, and a certificate in Book and Magazine Publishing from Centennial College.
