Actual Media’s Vice President and Publisher has been working with marketers for over 20 years to create innovative programs that deliver both superior user experience and quantifiable marketing value on a range of marketing objectives: from brand visibility, to lead generation; strategic positioning and thought-leadership. When he’s not butchering the Tragically Hip or Blue Rodeo on guitar, Nick enjoys sailing, scuba diving, and recently skiing, although he’ll be the first to tell you it’s a downhill proposition. (Sigh, we know.)
A 20-year communications veteran, Andrew is Actual Media’s Editorial Director and subject matter expert. A prolific writer and born story-teller, Andrew excels in engaging audiences across any media platform. He is an excellent public speaker and maintains a considerable network of government contacts and operators who shape the public debate in our sectors. If you are a sports memorabilia collector, Andrew has you beat.
With a lifetime of design and artistic experience, Donna is officially Actual Media’s Art Director. Donna is also Actual Media’s creative director, graphic designer, publication art director and production schedule queen. Her discerning, professional eye provides the visual look, feel, and flavour of Actual Media’s flagship brands as well as directing much of our agency work and client campaigns.
As Actual Media’s Associate Editor, Simran has become the voice of our water portfolio. She is our subject matter expert with experience in client engagement, conducting research and analysis and creating must-read stories and news. Simran is also the Program Director for the Canadian Water Summit series. Her humour and wit buoys many of our staff meetings.
With knowledge of the unconventional and execution of the unbelievable, Actual Media’s Projects and Event Manager ensures Actual Media’s events, from the largest industry galas to the smallest executive roundtables, are run professionally, have measurable outcomes and are memorable for all the right reasons. Natasha’s passion for learning from others and taking advantage of new opportunities makes her uniquely qualified to bring together all the different pieces of any event or project.
The newest member of our team is a digital marketing maven with the practical and intuitive skills needed to keep Actual Media brands and our client sites and digital assets on the cutting edge of an ever-changing and dynamic internet and social media-centric world.
A lead freelancer on our team, Connie works with Andrew and Simran to create unique content for EnvironmentJournal.ca and our other online platforms. She is an award-winning editor and writer with 20+ years of experience who digs in to research interesting issues, report on innovative ideas, and tell accurate stories.
With 13+ years of event management experience, Steph connects brands with their audience for deeper engagement, stronger relationships and tangible results. Combining imagination and experience to deliver live and virtual events, Steph sees the big picture while executing the creative, technical and logistical details to audiences of 50 to 50,000. From product launches to gala dinners to world renowned concerts and festivals, Steph’s innovative approaches to all events have clients coming back for more.
With an eclectic mix of cross-industry knowledge and contacts, Todd is the ambassador, advisor and communicator in Canada’s water, infrastructure and environment space. With over 30 years experience in these industries, Todd is Actual Media’s founder, Chief Creative Officer and President. He’s everywhere, but if you can’t find him check his social media channels or look to the finish line at an upcoming triathlon.
Nick is a trusted advisor with Actual Media’s water-related publications and events, specifically Water Canada magazine, the Water’s Next Awards, and the Canadian Water Summit. He is the Executive Director of Ryerson Urban Water and the President of the Ontario Water Works Association. Nick has an Honours B.Sc., Environmental Science, Biology from Trent University and continues to enjoy a long career in the water sector.
James is an entrepreneur, investor, and professional director. He is a founding advisor to Actual Media and has worked in the financial and environmental industries over the course of his 25+ year career. His work has been focused primarily on public and private companies in the cleantech sector. James is President of Cleantech Capital, Chairman of Environmental Business Consultant and serves on other boards including CHAR Technologies. James organizes an annual Actual ‘clean-up’ day at a local park or conservation area which is a wonderful excuse to enjoy his BBQ hospitality afterwards.
Our steadfast bookkeeper and manager of all things money, Taline works with Todd and Nick K. to keep our lights on, payroll managed and balance sheet clean. Taline’s attention to detail and experienced accounting mind allow us to focus on our brands and clients and not worry (too much) about financials and reporting.
